| The Fire Company entered into an agreement in the early 1960's with town council to construct a fire social hall and a new town garage. This was the first firemen's hall in the area, before it was fashionable to have a community center. The fire company put up several thousand dollars and continued each year to raise money through fund drives such as the Firemen's Town Picnic, Phone Directories, Pancake Breakfasts and donations to pay off their considerable share of the mortgage. Contrary to some popular belief, the Firemen's Community Center was not just given to the firemen; rather, they earned it the old fashion way - they worked hard for it, including building the Picnic Grove and Baseball Field (Firemen's Field). In 1983, the mortgage was finally paid off. Most of the interior is maintained by the current members of the Volunteer Fire Department. The Community Center houses the Volunteer Fire Association. Besides a Fireman's Social Room and the Exempt Firemen's Association Office, it contains a large meeting hall and a fully equipped commercial kitchen. The building is used for fire fighter training, Storm Standbys & Shelter for Evacuations. The Fire Company permits town functions to use the meeting hall when ever it is available without charge (but subject to reasonable rules and regulations to protect the facility). This includes the Senior Citizens, Police Department, Recreation Department, Elections and the Municipal Alliance Committee. .
The front hall Mural was commissioned in 1973 and depicts scenes of early homes that were built by settlers of North Caldwell. They were painted by award winning artist Carlee Walker, her husband Woody Walker was an active volunteer firefighter for many years.
The Commercial Stove and all the furnishings for the kitchen were purchased by the Ladies Auxiliary, which was established for that purpose, they raised funds through dinner dances.
The hall is available for rent, with all proceeds supporting the Volunteer Fire Company.
